Hi there, I'm Tanya!

I love playing with color! Throughout the years I have developed a keen eye for design – especially by matching color palettes and creating cheerful designs. Recently, I have started focusing on editable templates which meant that customers who buy my digital products can make changes of their own to suit their specific needs.

By making use of online tools, such as Canva, I can design templates for beginner users, as well as advanced. I also love teaching others how to use tools and resources – I guess that’s why I have also acquired a degree in teaching at the University of Pretoria. Of course, this means that I put a lot of effort into customer service as well, and I offer free guides to those who need to learn how to use online tools…

My process involves both digital and pen-and-paper style methods whenever I want to develop a new design – see how I mapped out my process below…

MY DESIGN PROCESS

1 | RESEARCH WHAT TO INCLUDE IN THE NEW DESIGN...

If the new design is a planner, I would research all the things I can possibly include in this planner. I also get inspiration for sheets through reading articles and blog posts online. I form ideas for sheets by thinking about what results the user would like to achieve.

2 | BRAINSTORM + CREATE A LIST OF PAGES/ FEATURES

I map out/make a list of which sheets I want to add to the design/planner. If it’s a design for Instagram templates, for example, I would list out what kind of posts I want to include in the design. If it’s a Pinterest template kit, pins that convert are my main design goal.

3 | ROUGH DRAFTS, SKETCHES, AND MOCKUPS...

Using a blank sheet or two, I would roughly draw the sheets I have in mind for a planner design. I take great care to make sure that each sheet in the planner serves a purpose and brings a clear outcome. I also make sure that I include as much detail on a sheet as I possibly can.

4 | COLOR PALETTE, THEME AND DESIGN TIME!

After the planner or design is mapped out, I start by choosing colors that form a palette. Theme elements will be added through Canva if applicable (i.e. the Halloween planner). After that, I start designing away, tweaking, and perfecting each page as I go…

5 | FINALIZE, FILE DELIVERY, AND LISTING IMAGES...

Once the design template is complete, I resize the sheets accordingly (A5, A4, and US Letter). Canva links are added to a PDF designed with my logo and branding style and listing images are designed to showcase the planner or design template.

Another platform that my templates cater to is Pinterest users. Pinterest templates take out the much dreaded “pin design factor”, which means that users can simply edit already-designed templates to upload to the platform.
